3. BIS SEMI-AUTOSUFFICIENCY PARTICIPATION IN THE CAMPAIGN "I DO NOT THROW MY WASTE" AND "PLASTIC FREE£

It is essential to respect the principle of an individual race in semi-self-sufficiency. The Valgrosina Trail races take place in a single stage, at free speed, within a time limit imposed by time gates, specific to each race. Semi-self-sufficiency is defined as the ability to be autonomous between two refreshment points, both in terms of food and equipment and safety, and to be able to adapt in case of any problems encountered or foreseeable (bad weather, physical ailments, injuries...)

This principle implies the following rules:

  • The competitor must have the entirety of the mandatory material with him/her throughout the duration of the competition (see EQUIPMENT section). This material must be carried in the backpack. At any time, the organization may check the backpack and its contents. The competitor is obliged to submit to these checks, cordially, on pain of expulsion from the race.
  • At the start from each refreshment station, the runner must have the sufficient amount of water and food to arrive independently at the next refreshment station.
  • It is forbidden to be accompanied or to agree to be accompanied by any person not registered for the race, on a section or the entire race, outside the tolerance zones.
  • The race participates in the "I DO NOT THROW MY WASTE" campaign: those who are caught leaving materials and/or waste along the route and outside the designated points may be disqualified.

  • The event is part of the PLASTIC FREE project: plastic cups will not be distributed at the refreshment stations; each participant must bring their own cup/container, which can be refilled at the supply points.

12. GREEN AREAS/ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT

The race participates in the "I DO NOT THROW MY WASTE" campaign: those who are caught leaving materials and/or waste along the route and outside the designated points may be disqualified.

The mountain is beautiful but it deserves respect.

Organized GREEN AREAS will be set up all along the race route where you can throw away your trash.

By registering for one of the Valgrosina Trail races, participants agree to respect the environment and natural spaces traversed. Specifically:

  • It is absolutely forbidden to throw trash on the course (gel tubes, papers, organic waste, plastic packaging, etc.). Along the course, participants will find appropriately marked GREEN AREAS where competitors can throw away waste.
  • Participants should keep their waste and packaging and throw them in the designated GREEN AREAS. The Organization urges competitors to have a small bag to carry the waste to the refreshment stations.
  • It is mandatory to follow marked trails, without cutting them. Cutting a trail causes harmful erosion to the site as well as potential danger to participants.

The race takes place in natural mountain environments with particularly dedicated ecosystems (protected areas, SCI, etc...) therefore the utmost respect is asked, any behavior deemed inappropriate by the organization in this regard will be sanctioned with immediate disqualification.

13. MAXIMUM TIME/CANCEL TIMES AND RETREATS

  • Valgrosina Trail short route: 03:30 hours.

The maximum time to reach the finish line is 19:00 hours (by midnight on Saturday). There will be a "broom service" that will walk the course following the last competitor, so as to be of help to retreatants and prevent any injured people from being left unassisted.

MEDIUM ROUTE.

A time gate will be set up, where a shuttle bus will be available for late arrivals to return to the arrival area:

  • EITA REFUGE (25km) by 1:30 p.m. Saturday

Runners who do not arrive within the stipulated time limits will be stopped and will not be allowed to continue the race and must hand in their bibs to the officials on the course.

To protect the health of participants, medical personnel present at the checkpoints or along the course are empowered to stop a competitor who will be deemed unfit to continue the race. In this case, the competitor must follow the instructions of the medical personnel, under penalty of immediate disqualification.

Competitors who arrived at the time gates out of the maximum time limit, those who are judged by medical personnel to be unfit to continue the race, and other athletes who wish to voluntarily withdraw will be allowed to use a shuttle service to return.

It is possible that, for logistical reasons, withdrawn competitors may have to wait some time before being returned to the finish area. Any competitor who withdraws from the race outside the predetermined points must strictly immediately communicate their withdrawal by text message or phone call to the number given by the organization or at the nearest refreshment point and make their own arrangements to return to Grosio.

The organization's vehicles, being inadequately equipped, cannot intervene in case the athlete needs medical attention. In that case, the intervention of official medical aid will be necessary.

14. RESCUE AND MEDICAL CARE

Aid stations will be placed on the course and all will be in radio or telephone connection with the race coordination center.

Rescue points will offer assistance to all persons in distress, with means and equipment on site. A competitor in distress or seriously injured may call for help:

  • By presenting directly to an aid station
  • By calling the number you will also find on the bib
  • Asking another contestant to seek relief on his or her behalf

All competitors have an obligation to help those in distress and must notify help immediately. The competitor may not directly contact outside help.

Don't forget that unforeseen contingencies of all kinds, related to the environment and the race, can keep you waiting for help for longer than expected. Your safety then also depends on what you put in your backpack!

EMTs and medical officers, as well as all personnel designated by the Race Director, are empowered to:

  • Exclude competitors deemed no longer suitable for the continuation of the competition from the competition
  • Compel competitors to carry all items of mandatory material with them
  • evacuate, by all means, competitors judged to be in danger

A competitor who requests the intervention of a rescuer or physician is in effect submitting to his or her authority and agreeing to accept their decisions.

The race management may pronounce the disqualification of a competitor in case of a serious violation of the regulations, particularly for the following infractions:
